Sir Joteendro Mohun Tagore Library

It is named after the late Maharaja Sir Joteendro Mohun Tagore , KCLE, of Calcutta, who was a constant supporter of the Zoological Garden, and was a recognised leader of Bengal aristrocracy. He wished that all animal medicine related books of the world should be kept in this library For this, he donated a huge amount to Zoological Garden. Alipore. With this money this library was built in the zoo premises on 1835. Another patron of the Zoo Sir Jhon Edgar donated some bookshelves for the library. This herilage library currently contains around 1400 books, of which mang are rare books.

স্যার জ্যোতিন্দ্র মোহন টেগোর লাইব্রেরী

আলিপুর চিড়িয়াখানার লাইব্রেরীটি স্যার জ্যোতিন্দ্র মোহন টেগোর, কে সি আই ই ওফ ক্যালকাটা-এর নামে নামাঙ্কিত করা হয় কারণ চিড়িয়াখানার শুরুর সময়ে তিনি চিড়ায়াখানার অন্যতম পৃষ্ঠপোষক ছিলেন। ওনার ইচ্ছা ছিল, প্রাণীদের চিকিংসা সংক্রান্ত পৃথিবীর সমস্ত প্রয়োজনীয় বই লাইব্রেরীতে থাকবে। সেই উদ্দেশ্যে গড়ে তোলা হয়। চিড়িয়াখানায় প্রচুর অর্থ দান করেন ও সেই অর্থের সাহায্য ১৮৯৮ সালে চিড়িয়াখানায় এই লাইব্রেরী গড়ে তোলা হয়। চিড়িয়াখানায় আারেক পৃষ্ঠপোষক স্যার জন এই লাইব্রেরীর জন্য বইয়ের আলমারি দান করেন। বর্তমান এখানে প্রায় ১৪০০ এর বেশী বই রয়েছে অধিকাংশই দুষ্প্রাপ্য।
